The day in brief

Anthropic renamed its Max 20x plan to Ultra on 30 October, kept the price at $200 a month, and removed the 5-hour usage limit for verified Ultra accounts.

Max 5x is now called Max at $100 a month, and subscribers don't need to do anything. The limit removal starts on 30 October with most existing Ultra subscribers. Newer accounts keep the 5-hour limit for now, and the announcement doesn't say when that changes.

The rename follows a change in what these plans include. Anthropic's release notes dated 21 October list monthly API credits of $100 for Max and $200 for Ultra, plus a pooled Team allowance capped at $500, with unused credits expiring each billing cycle. Those figures are only partly confirmed against the source. OpenAI made a similar move on 28 October, letting eligible ChatGPT Pro and Business subscribers claim up to $500 a month in API credits by linking an API organization they own.

OpenAI also listed gpt-6-rosalind in its API changelog on 30 October. It's a model for complex life sciences research, with biological reasoning and scientific tool use, and it follows the earlier GPT-Rosalind models. Access is limited to organizations approved for Rosalind Research through the trusted-access program, for internal research by authorized users. OpenAI published no benchmarks or prices in the changelog entry.

ByteDance opened Doubao Work to rival models on 29 October. Kimi K3.1 Pro, GLM-5.3 and DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash now sit in the model picker for Team and Enterprise plans, and administrators can grant access by member, department, group or company. Companies don't need separate API accounts with each vendor. Tencent's figures put Doubao Work at 30.39 million visits in September. Its own WorkBuddy had 85.34 million.
