WebAI
Opera introduced WebAI, a web standard for running open-weight AI models locally in the browser, as an early preview in Opera One.
WebAI lets developers add AI features that run on the user's device, so there is no cloud infrastructure or per-request cost. It is not tied to one model. Opera names Google's Gemma as an example and says it supports Apple's on-device foundation model on Macs. It can generate text, classify content and relate pieces of information. Users must opt in. Opera GX and Opera Neon are to get it later.
