Merged Chat and Work tabs in ChatGPT
OpenAI is merging the Chat and Work tabs in the ChatGPT desktop app, and ChatGPT and Codex will draw from one shared usage allowance.
The Chat and Work tabs become one experience where users can bring files and plugins and ask ChatGPT to build a website, create a presentation or act on the web while they review its work. Codex stays a separate experience in the desktop app. ChatGPT and Codex now draw tokens from the same allowance pool, so some users may wait for resets more often depending on usage and model.

Initially available to select users for feedback before a wide rollout, according to an email to users. Anthropic merged Claude's chat and Cowork functions in September.
