Doubao phone assistant SAEP screen automation for third-party apps
ByteDance's Doubao phone assistant ended the 30-day notice for its SAEP protocol and will gradually let its AI agent operate third-party apps that have not opted out.
Apps whose developers have not declared a refusal become available for the agent to operate by reading the screen and simulating taps and typing. Android apps can declare limits for the whole app, a page or a business intent, and developers can opt out at any time. High-risk actions such as payments or account authentication can require user confirmation, and decisions are logged for audit.
